TERMS & CONDITIONS

These Terms and Conditions govern your membership, participation in events, and use of all Edo Union Leeds services and platforms.

Please read carefully. By joining or participating in Edo Union Leeds activities, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.

Acceptance of Terms

By joining Edo Union Leeds (EUL), registering on our website, attending any of our events, or using any of our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

These Terms apply to all members, visitors, event attendees, and any person who interacts with Edo Union Leeds in any capacity.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not participate in our activities or use our services.

Edo Union Leeds reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Members will be notified of significant changes via our official communication channels.

Membership Terms

Membership of Edo Union Leeds is voluntary and open to Edo indigenes and their spouses residing in Leeds and surrounding West Yorkshire areas.

By becoming a member, you agree to:

  • Abide by the Constitution of Edo Union Leeds.
  • Pay all dues and levies as determined by the Executive Committee and ratified by the General Assembly.
  • Conduct yourself with respect and dignity towards other members and officers.
  • Participate constructively in meetings, activities, and community events.
  • Uphold the values and reputation of the Union at all times.
  • Notify the Secretary General of any change in personal contact details.

Membership may be suspended or terminated for violation of the Constitution, these Terms, or conduct deemed harmful to the Union or its members.

All membership decisions shall be subject to the dispute resolution process outlined in the EUL Constitution.

Events & Activities

Edo Union Leeds organises community events, cultural activities, and social gatherings for the benefit of its members and the wider Edo community.

By attending EUL events, you agree to:

  • Follow all instructions given by event organisers and volunteers.
  • Respect the venue, property, and other attendees.
  • Not engage in any behaviour that could cause harm, embarrassment, or disruption.
  • Permit Edo Union Leeds to take photographs or videos at events for community use.
  • Accept that Edo Union Leeds accepts no liability for personal injury or loss of property during events unless caused by proven negligence.

Ticket sales for paid events are generally non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by Edo Union Leeds.

Edo Union Leeds reserves the right to refuse admission to any event at its sole discretion.

Financial Obligations

All members are required to maintain their financial standing by paying dues and levies as communicated by the Executive Committee.

A member in arrears of three (3) or more months of dues without an approved payment plan shall be considered not in good standing and may lose access to welfare benefits and voting rights.

All financial contributions made to Edo Union Leeds (dues, levies, donations) are non-refundable.

The Union shall maintain full financial transparency through periodic financial reports shared with members.

Special welfare contributions collected for specific members shall be forwarded in full to the beneficiary.

Code of Conduct

All members and guests of Edo Union Leeds are expected to maintain the highest standards of conduct, both in person and online.

The following conduct is strictly prohibited:

  • Harassment, bullying, discrimination, or intimidation of any member.
  • Making false, defamatory, or misleading statements about the Union or its members.
  • Misappropriation of Union funds or assets.
  • Using the Union's name or brand for personal or commercial gain without written consent.
  • Sharing confidential member information without prior consent.
  • Engaging in political campaigning using the Union's platforms or events.

Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action up to and including permanent exclusion from the Union.

Website & Digital Use

Our website and digital communications (WhatsApp group, email newsletter) are provided for community information purposes.

All content on the EUL website is the intellectual property of Edo Union Leeds unless otherwise stated. You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit any content without prior written permission.

Users of the EUL WhatsApp group must adhere to the group rules as set by the administrators. Abusive behaviour will result in removal.

Edo Union Leeds is not responsible for the content of external websites linked from our platforms.

We reserve the right to update, modify, or remove website content at any time without prior notice.

Limitation of Liability

Edo Union Leeds shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from membership, event attendance, or use of our services.

The Union makes no warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of information on our website.

Members attend events and activities at their own risk. The Union strongly recommends members maintain personal insurance where appropriate.

In no event shall the aggregate liability of Edo Union Leeds to any member exceed the total dues paid by that member in the preceding 12 months.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes arising from these Terms shall first be subject to the internal dispute resolution mechanism of Edo Union Leeds as outlined in the EUL Constitution.

If no resolution is reached internally, disputes shall be referred to mediation before any legal proceedings are initiated.
